 Update the honorary record "Nurburgring" for electric vehicles means the company Volkswagen, represented by its sports division Volkswagen Motorsport. According to the press service of the brand, a record check will be carried out in a special racing model I. D. R, which will manage the pilot Romain Dumas. Earlier, the racer has already managed to beat the record of climbing the hill pikes Peak, and, driving the same car.

Technical Director of Volkswagen Motorsport françois-Xavier Demaison explained: "First of all, we will make changes to the aerodynamic components of I. D. R in relation to the features of the "Northern loop", which is radically different from the road on pikes Peak". The fundamental difference between the annular raceway North loop of the race to lift the hill pikes Peak, starting at a height of 2862 metres and soaring to a height of 4302 meters above sea level is that elevation at the German Eifel is "only" 320 to 617 meters.

At the moment the best lap time for battery electric vehicles at the "Nordschleife" nürburgring owned by British racing driver Peter Dumbreck that in 2017, the driving electric NIO EP9 went this route in 6 minutes of 45.9 seconds, showing the average speed is almost equal to 185 km/h.
