The June data on the total sales of electric cars and hybrids opens Sweden where the market grew by 69% compared to the same month of the previous year reaching units 2749 registrations, which helped the PEV market to grow 60% year to date compared to the same period last year, posting a share in 2018 P EV at 6%.

From 1 July 2018 in Sweden introduced a new fiscal system, where conventional vehicles (ICE) is now introduced higher taxes (Malus), but rechargeable hybrids (PHEV), and the more pure battery electric vehicles (BEV), by contrast, will receive tax deductions (bonuses), increased to approximately €6000, which explains why registering BEV slipped in June by 17%, while some full-sized PHEV showed, on the contrary, sales growth.

It is expected that all electric vehicles (BEV) will survive, since July sales surge, in addition, will benefit from the new system and some PHEV.

Considering in more detail the bestsellers of June, it should be noted the leadership of the hybrid crossover Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which for the first time for the first time in a year became the leader with 545 units (best result in 30 months), and hybrid crossover Volvo XC60 PHEV won the bronze medal thanks to 315 units.

In the ranking of PEV in June 2018, has undergone several changes, but the main news was the jump in the Outlander PHEV in two places up to second place, thus, regained its place on the podium after a long absence.

Another significant development was the rise of the hybrid sedan and station wagon Volvo S90 / V90 PHEV on the 7-th position, due to the registration of 196 cars, which was the best result for this series of Volvo.

Getting hybrid sedan S90 (along with a hybrid station wagon V90) in the Top 10 PEV became a success for the brand Volvo  

In the line BMW model 530e is the best for the second month in a row with 183 units, this model allowed to jump immediately to five positions to 9th place, while the crossover X5 PHEV also showed a record result in 54 units, rising to 16th place, but the little electric i3 also helped the German manufacturer, set the record of registrations in 114 units.

In the ranking of manufacturers of all the leaders on the podium, lost a position, so Volvo 21% with a decrease of 1%, while Volkswagen was No. 2 with 19% with a decrease of 2%, and third place was taken by Kia with 16% (-1 %), while that of BMW, which showed a 12% rose 2%.

Total June sales of conventional hybrids and rechargeable hybrids (PHEV) continued to account for most of the sales in the segment, and three hybrid models of the Toyota was in the Top 5, while the Outlander PHEV is, as mentioned, got the 2nd place and became the best selling PHEV on the market (market share 11%), but did not surpass the model of the VW Passat GTE, remaining the market leader in over half (16% of the market), although in June and failed on the 5th place.

It will be interesting to see how this rating will affect the new tax system of Bonus / Malus, as in conventional hybrids, this system is almost not affected..
