Despite the fact that the development of electric cars included in priority directions of development of the market, to support direct import of electric vehicles the government no longer intends. So, the zero rate of import duty for passenger electric vehicles was abolished in the EEU from 1 September 2017. And recently, Deputy Minister of industry and trade Alexander Morozov (as well as Anatoly Chubais, who, however, believes that the public electric vehicle will develop quite rapidly – ed.) questioned the near-term prospect of the widespread introduction of passenger electric vehicles in Russia, focusing on the development of production of transport of natural gas (natural gas) because it is 30% less energy than a full charging cycle of an electric vehicle.
