The famous Swiss balloonist and pilot Bertrand Piccard (winner of the gold aviation medal of FAI, and the Hubbard medal for achievements in the field of aviation and Aeronautics) set the record car. He was able to pass through French territory 778 km on one tank filling of hydrogen for FCEV Hyundai кроссоверt Nexo (engine capacity of 163 HP, ΜM=395 N·m).

Accordingly, Hyundai argues that it is a world record for electric vehicles running on hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV), i.e. hydrogen fuel cells, not the vehicle on hydrogen at all, because hydrogen can be burned in internal combustion engines as conventional natural gas. By the way, 11 years ago, the Prius sedan that has been converted under hydrogen in the famous Lawrence Livermore laboratories and is equipped with a large Globacom for liquid hydrogen, placed in the trunk, was able to overcome about 1050 km. However, it was just an experiment. But the current record holder Nexo it is a standard production model.

Predecessor Nexo crossover ix35 hydrogen Fuel Cell in such a record mileage of 2014 reached exactly 700 km, and, his mid was showing the rest of the mileage in 10 km to 49 km from the current Nexo.

Scheme of the fuel of the power plant FCEV Hyundai Nexo – in a fuel cell supplied with oxygen and hydrogen from kripakov, and the output in addition to electricity to drive the electric installation turns out just water vapor

Now improve this measure has been achieved as to improve the hydrogen power plant, as well as the use of larger cylinders, which in Nexo hold of 6.33 kg of pure hydrogen as compared to 5.6 kg in the ix35.

Accordingly, Hyundai Motor determines the nominal cruising range on one filling for Nexo equal to 756 km, but only under "ideal conditions", and the new mount cycle WLTP – 666 km

Characteristically, the hydrogen refueling process without any extra tweaks takes less than five minutes.

It turns out that the Bertrand Picro managed to create even more ideal conditions for your mileage than the factory hospitatily that resembles a record 2017, when the Italians were able to squeeze out of one charge Tesla Model S already 1078 km And still record the mileage Piccard really demonstrates that hydrogen technologies, with due attention to them can become a real alternative to the current batteries with rare earth elements and excessively long charging (for the main transport today is almost more attractive solution than batteries in any case, betting on the hydrogen make and Aponiaand Korea, and China – ed.).

PS of Course this "record run" – the pure PR action Hyundai, but what is valuable: FCEV is already out of "short pants", demonstrating quite competitive in comparison with traditional electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) setting range and speed of refueling. Now the whole question is in the development of a sufficiently dense network of hydrogen filling stations (to start at least in the suburbs and along highways), and in this matter the government countries the far East region (and more recently France, too) just show a commendable effort. And yet without a solution to the problem of obtaining a sufficient quantities of hydrogen, and, environmentally friendly methods, e.g. catalysis of sea water energy marine (offshore) wind turbines and using a bio farm where N2 is produced by algae, respectively, at more affordable prices than today – up to large-scale deployment of FCEV is still very far away. However technology does not stand still, and the idea of offshore wind turbines in the two-seater with a hydrogen production where the hydrogen can be stored in krisstarah and spend (as a fuel for FCEV, and the opposite of generation in the electricity network) when you need to consumers and is a great solution for accumulation energy on an industrial scale, which must alternative ("green") energy for its full inclusion in the world energy balance as a main (along with the solar power, of course) environmentally friendly source of energy supply to the growing fleet of electric vehicles.
P. P. S. Understandable and of interest to FCEV it was France, which now produces over 90% of its electricity through nuclear power plants (and in contrast to its neighbors in the EU are not going to abandon its "peaceful atom"), and so has as a means of "green" generation of hydrogen due to the excess energy of the night "of antipikha" and is interested in the development of consumer N2.
