Nissan Motor and EDF Group signed a cooperation agreement on accelerating the development of electric mobility, in particular through the introduction of intelligent charging for electric vehicles. This agreement applies to the UK, France, Belgium and Italy, and should lead to the EDF Group by 2022 in the leaders for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in these markets.

The graph shows that the V2G technology will be beneficial to all: the generating companies, the residents and owners of electric vehicles

The agreement mainly focuses on the development of intelligent charging solutions the type of V2G by combining the technologies developed and mastered by both companies. Smart charging refers to technologies that enhance two-way charging/discharging of electric vehicles efficient and cost effective manner.

In the framework of the cooperation agreement, Nissan is responsible for the sale of V2G-capable electric vehicles and EDF Group, is responsible for charging station and other infrastructure V2G, as well as related services.
• The basic concept of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility supports the integration of electric vehicles in society, and V2G technology offers significant benefits for electricity grids, while providing new financial opportunities for business. More and more drivers and transport companies that give electric, last year Nissan made in Western Europe, record sales as their electrochemical Nissan LEAF and electroview e-NV200.
• The EDF Group aims to promote environmentally-friendly mobility for all, in particular, developing technologiesare "smart charging" with considerable benefits for customers. These fully integrated solutions include managing charging and discharging of the battery EV, as well as flexible services to the grid, available through the cloud, which belong Izivia – a subsidiary of EDF Group specializing in charging infrastructure and Dreev, a newly established joint venture EDF-NUVVE specializing in commercial decisions V2G. So, last year a contract was signed for installation in the UK of 1,500 charging stations EDF-NUVVE with the possibility of using V2G technologies to businesses and households.

Last year, EDF undertook to supply in England 1500 charging stations under the V2G technology is suitable primarily for electric vehicles Nissan

Today's agreement followed the previous partnership agreement between EDF Energy and Nissan for the UK market. Last fall, both companies agreed to cooperate in developing joint projects in the areas of electric mobility, smart charging, secondary use of batteries, energy storage and renewable energy sources. The agreement provided for
Director of the EDF Group for electric mobility Yannick Dupor said, "the cooperation Agreement is fully consistent with the "Plan for electric mobility", signed in October last year. We are convinced that the development of electric mobility will be supported by partnerships. I am very pleased that among them is a cooperation agreement, which Nissan and EDF have just signed for the development of intelligent charging solutions EV. Thus, EDF creates an ecosystem for innovative players, forming strategic partnerships for large-scale implementation of advanced technologies to support our customers."
Managing Director for interaction with customers EDF Energy Beatrice Bigua added: "Our customers expect that we will help them to switch to electric vehicles and smart charging technology are crucial for this transition. Combining our experience with Nissan, we can work together to make low carbon transport a reality for business today, and for wider society – in the near future. Our competencies are to offer our customers solutions that will help them to invest in electric vehicles and begin to experience the financial and environmental benefits that they bring, and that becomes achievable due to the strong partnership".
Managing Director Nissan Energy in Europe Francisco Carranza said: "This new partnership with EDF for the four major European markets was another sign that our vision of an electric ecosystem becomes a reality. Transport companies are increasingly aware of the advantages and opportunities offered by electric vehicles Nissan LEAF and e-NV200 equipped with V2G technology solutions that logically performs the next step in energy management and opening new opportunities to generate income".

What is smart charging?
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) – the concept of the so-called "intelligent" charging for double-sided use batteries for BEV and PHEV, as implying the connection to the total eletricity for direct charging of its battery and return battery stored electricity back to the grid through participation in the "demand management for electricity". Accordingly, owners of vehicles with V2G technology will receive the ability to control time and the intensity of their charge, but most importantly, can sell at high prices stored electricity to the grid during daytime peak hours, when the machine is not in use, and, conversely, to charge their vehicle at night when electricity is much cheaper because in many countries the price of electricity depends on the time of day. This will allow owners to offset the cost of electricity for their machines and also to offset the costs of possession. There is also the possibility of connection of electric vehicle or hybrid with V2G technology to the electrical system of homes, allowing you to use their battery as a UPS for apartments or offices. For example, the US V2G technology is the most widely develop as the Federal government itself, and Google.

This infographic illustrates how in the future, V2G technology will tie together a fleet of electric vehicles and the grid

The advantage of the reversibility of the V2G energy flow to developed countries will become increasingly important as their parks electric cars will grow, and that, above all, will help to rise on feet alternative energy (renewable energy), yet too unstable for the generation of electricity. Further due to the synergies it will allow V2G fleet of electric cars to take over more of the cumulative capacity of the national grid, becoming a sort of "cloud storage", completely reliable precisely because of its discreteness, which in fact would rule out the negative consequences of mass blackouts (the blackouts).

Financial, environmental and social benefits of V2G (as well as its more compact variant of V2X (vehicle-to-everything) for the individual local host) make this technology a welcome innovation in the market, but as yet she has not reached his full technological bloom. So that the cooperation between the EDF Group and Nissan Motor marks a huge step forward for the implementation of an electric future, offering a practical solution which will benefit both businesses and society as a whole.

PS the First application of the technology V2G/V2X electric cars Nissan began after the natural disasters of March 2011 (the tsunami and subsequent accident of Fukushima nuclear power plant). He rigged his electro hatchback costs the first generation LEAF reversible energy use (early V2G), which use electricity in a battery electric vehicle for power supply of individual houses for the whole week.

P. P. S. About what electric vehicles (at least 1 million, for example, in a city like Moscow) due to the overnight charge will be able to take on the night the failure of the electricity consumption, which in itself will increase efficiency of power generation by at least 10%, I read another third of a century ago in the days of the late USSR. But even then it was quite clear that the process of charging electric vehicles should not be anarchic, and smoothed by computer control. So, now that technology V2G (designed primarily for corporate consumption or apartment building) and V2X (individual use in private homes), in my opinion, represents the most acceptable solution to this problem from the standpoint of both individual and social, as well as business interests. This technology really opens the prospect of the fastest growth of the fleet of electric vehicles without undue burden on the energy, and hence will help to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, is mainly responsible for global warming.
