Mercedes-Benz enters the second phase of testing on a regular electrogrooving logistics operations

Mercedes-Benz in Alliance with German logistics company Rigterink Logistikgruppe be used in logistics operations, mainly in the transportation of food to the Central city districts of Frankfurt am main, Wiesbaden, Mainz and in many other municipalities in the Rhein-main experienced battery electrogrooving eActros.

Daily distance from the Central warehouses Rigterink flörsheim am main to branches of supermarkets and various Central logistic centers of the supermarket chains is about 200 km (124 miles).

The energy that fuels eActros comes from a lithium ion battery with a capacity of 240 kWh depending on power of charger, full charging takes about two hours (at a power of 150 kW). The truck is equipped with a removable refrigerated the body (with the supports of multi-lift type) manufactured by Schmitz Cargobull, which provides energy-efficient transportation of refrigerated products.

The company Rigterink is among 20 customers from different sectors that have implemented in its fleet of electric trucks. Each of these specially selected customers will exploit pre-production version eActros GVW, 18 or 25 tonnes for about a year, checking your copy of the electric truck for its actual suitability for everyday use.
The goal is by 2021 to achieve the ability to drive in a city environment without emissions and noise. A series of tests divided into two phases of ten customers each. First eActros "innovation fleet" works with the client starting from September 2018.
Development and testing of heavy duty electric truck in distribution operations with a short radius are funded to varying degrees in the framework of the project "the Concept ELV2"  the Federal Ministry of the environment of Germany (BMUB) and the Federal Ministry of Economics and the economy. Energy (BMWi).
