In may at the Berlin festival GreenTech world's largest logistics company DHL Express in the face of its joint venture subsidiary of Deutsche Post with a firm StreetScooter GmbH from Aachen announced the joint development of hydrogen-metal delivery van "H2 Panel Van" (photo on the splash screen). This standard full-size van in 4.25-ton class based on the total mass (the maximum allowed in Germany for work drivers with regular driver's license), therefore, will be the first elektroorgana working on hydrogen fuel elements, i.e. "FCECV" with efficient mileage to 500 miles.
Interestingly, the DHL Express immediately went to the topic of hydrogen on a large, order a batch of 100 units. such FCECV on hydrogen fuel. Their main delivery is scheduled for 2020 and will be completed in 2021.
All-metal electroforged "H2 Panel Van" with a useful volume of 10 m3 and a payload of 800 kg, according to DHL, allows you to carry around hundreds of parcels at a time. The maximum speed of a hydrogen-electric van is 120 km/h, and, the power system includes as a traditional Li-ion battery capacity of 40 kWh and a hydrogen fuel cell with a capacity of 26 kW, powered by a special hydrogen tank containing six kilograms of H2 that will guarantee a power reserve of up to 500 kilometers.

Based on the hydrogen wagon "H2 Panel Van" lay the groundwork for that is already used by DHL more large commercial electric model StreetScooter WORK XL (AKB – 76 kWh and the usable volume is 20 m3, the payload of 1.15 tons and has a range of about 200 km) created in collaboration with Ford Motor on the basis of the series LCV Transit.
The project "H2 Panel Van" is funded by the Federal Ministry of transport and digital infrastructure of Germany (BMVI) as part of the national innovation program "hydrogen Technology and fuel cells" (NIP II).
Chief technical Director of StreetScooter GmbH Fabian Schmitt explained that: "We are convinced that fuel cells will become an increasingly important component in the electric car market because they allow you to use electric cars with greater range, which is important to many customers. Due to hydrogen-electric H2 Panel Van firm StreetScooter opens another Chapter in its history of innovation and entering a new phase of growth."

Production line to manufacture commercial electric vehicles at the company StreetScooter GmbH in Aachen is organized quite seriously

DHL Express will act as an exclusive user of the new elektroorgana. Currently it is not planned to sell the van H2 Panel Van to third parties outside the Deutsche Post DHL Group. If the commercial development of pure battery electric vehicles goes well, then there is no doubt that this situation will not to last too long.

PS by the Way, Deutsche Post DHL bought to work in the United States 63 distribution of elektroorgana model NGEN-1000 useful volume of 28 m3 manufactured by Workhorse power reserve "optimized" up to 100 miles (160 km) to reduce the cost of the machine. Until the end of the year, DHL hopes to increase the fleet of electroforged to third.

P. P. S. a Recent incident Norwegian hydrogen filling station is unlikely to stop such major DHL Group plans, which is strongly bent to be the first sign of the use of hydrogen in commercial vehicles..
