German conceptual electrochoc-rod created based racing Mercedes 35 PS sample 1901
Meet the Vision of the Mercedes Simplex – electric concept inspired by the first car bearing the name "Mercedes" is the fastest and most revolutionary car of its time
The Vision concept Mercedes Simplex was inspired by the way the Mercedes 35 PS of 1901 (pictured) – a racing car of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft built at the dawn of motoring
the Revolutionary race car was developed based on the requirements of Emile Ellinika, the Austrian entrepreneur who has achieved great success in the import and sale of car brand of Daimler in nice, in the South of France. Exactly Jellinek, who already had racing experience, achieved from DMG create a vehicle with a wide track and long wheelbase, with a low installed engine to provide the most favorable weight distribution and low center of gravity, which, of course, radically improved its handling and stability in turns. The resulting model of the Mercedes 35 PS was named in honor of the home nicknames daughter Ellinika Mercedes (real full name is adriana Manuela Ramona), and the numbers indicate the engine power Daimler 35 PS (approximately 35-40 horsepower), which was equipped with a machine. The current Vision concept Mercedes Simplex resumes the original design of this already classic vehicle in for a new era of electromobility
The concept is very similar simulated vertical grille 35 PS, it completely open the driver and mechanic in rapid narrow body, and is also set at the corners of the large open wheels. Contrast color palette exterior – bright white front and black back with a sharp transition from the dashboard just pays homage to the ancestor of 35 PS, while the blue upholstery of excellent quality ghostly hints at the Cote d'azur of France, where at the time Jellinek plucked the fruits of fame in the race. This concept works in the version of the electric car, which could not be in the traditional vehicle with internal combustion engine. Giant wheels flaunt a solid center caps, and the wheel is driven by a bevel gear. The wheel and pedal of accelerator and brake floor hinge installed in one unit
Presentation of the concept took place in the just opened new Center of excellence in Mercedes-Benz design
At the moment it is only a concept, with no prospect of even single-piece production, but Mercedes Simplex Vision demonstrates what can be achieved on the basis of purely electric design, including the image, Dating back to the early days of motor racing, at the same time developing the capabilities of the car without causing it bulky internal combustion engine. It remains to wait for what other extravagant ideas, will prepare a Mercedes in the same vein..
