Members of the British Parliament stated that the ownership of private vehicles must cease and the use of cars in General should be reduced, if, by 2050, the UK intends to become the country with the "neutral carbon".
In a comprehensive report cross-party select Committee on science and technology argued that the UK government: "it is not enough to strive to reduce emissions by simply replacing the existing cars to their counterparts with lower emissions."
The report highlights the fact that the production process of vehicles on alternative fuels, such as electric cars still produces a "significant" emissions of CO2. This creates uncertainty about the future of private transport and ownership of private cars, which is described as: "In the long term, the widespread ownership of personal vehicles, it won't be compatible with a significant decarbonization".
Despite this, the Committee said that currently the government should intensify its efforts to promote sales of zero emission vehicles. They point out that the grants for plug-in vehicle has been reduced for electric vehicles (BEV) and completely stopped for a PHEV, but fuel for them have been frozen for nine years.

Among other comments, the Committee noted that the government needs to cooperate with landowners in order to increase the number of charging devices for electric vehicles, especially in private areas, such as flats and apartments.
Plan ban sale UK all conventional gasoline and diesel vehicles (ICE) by 2040 (and by 2032 in Scotland) has been criticized for being allegedly too slow. In the Commission's report States: "the UK is not even on the way to achieving their existing legally binding goals for 2023 and 2032 years."
The Committee is called to the fact that by 2030 the vehicles with ultra-low emissions accounted for about 60% of all sales of new cars, with the "opportunity" to raise this figure to 100% by 2035. PS Another report – of the Committee on climate change (CCC), also requires to postpone the ban on the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles in the UK from 2040 to 2030, the only cool measure will allow the United Kingdom to come by 2050 with zero balance of emissions of CO2. So that His Majesty's Government took is really cool, let's see how these challenges to deal encumbered PACSICOM the newly elected British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
