Recently, Rotterdam has been officially presents the first electric car brand Mini model Cooper SE.
Now, according to a member of the Board of Directors of BMW  Peter Sarsenbayeva responsible for the brand Mini in an interview with Autoexpress: "In the future, the British brand will be able to specialize for pure electric vehicles".
"PHEV the Mini Countryman was the first step – sold much better than originally planned, which shows that the electrification of the brand Mini – the right way,"  explained Swarztrauber. "But then for other Mini and subcompact models we must focus only on clean electric vehicles. Step by step we fully electrificare line MINI. If in the automotive industry and there is a brand that can be called purely city, this MINI" – he added.
BMW expects that the growing restrictions in the major cities of world will stimulate consumer interest and sales of electric vehicles. Together, these factors can lead to the fact that MINI will be an all-electric brand.
Also, Swarzenberg said that he was surprised by the demand for new electric Mini  Cooper SE, the interest in which has been confirmed by over 40,000 customers, and said that he had "never seen anything like it before." Electric car Mini Cooper SE is built on technology BMW i3s, but equipped with a smaller battery. Its design is more familiar and pleasant than too futuristic the BMW i3.
The transition to a fully electric MINI brand is unlikely to happen before 2030, as the consumer demand for cars with a large power reserve still remains strong. Swarztrauber added: "In this period of transition it is important to have a choice between BEV and PHEV, but after 2030 will begin different game".
