GAS oversaw the "Robocross-2018"

AZ GAS and the Foundation "Volnoe Delo" held in Nizhny Novgorod a competition drones "Robocross-2018"

Gorky automobile plant and the Foundation "Volnoe Delo" and with the participation of the Fund "SKOLKOVO" held in Nizhny Novgorod competitions of automated vehicles, "Robocross-2018". Competed 19 student teams from leading universities of Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Ryazan, Kovrov, Vladimir, Orenburg, Samara and St. Petersburg. Teams of Universities, which in March this year became winners and prize-winners of X all-Russian technological festival PROFEST in the direction of AutoNet 18+, have received from the Gorky automobile plant to participate in the "Robocross" 2018-2019 cars "GAZelle NEXT" and units for conversion into drones.



First place in the direction of "Robocross-unmanned vehicle" won the team Mad Drive Saint Petersburg state electrotechnical University, the second – team RoboLife Ulyanovsk state technical University, the third – KSTA Team Kovrov state technological Academy. Nomination "Team work" is marked by a CLV Robotics team of the Moscow Polytechnic University, nomination "Award from judges" awarded the team the WORLD of Nizhny Novgorod state technical University, in the nomination "Systematic approach" – the team SuperNova Ryazan state radio engineering University, nominated for "Best debut" — the team RoboLife Ulyanovsk state technical University.



In the category "Unmanned flying systems" the winner was the team from the capital "Copter Express", and the second place took the team "Kvantorium" from Syktyvkar.
In the direction UniorRace the first place was won by the team Irgups, Irkutsk state University of railway transport, the second – the team of Saratov state technical University Saratov state technical University, the third was divided between the team of the Nizhny Novgorod state technical University and Irkutsk scientific research technical University.



For the second consecutive year to the main competition regulation is supplemented by the task of development of automated driver assistance systems ADAS (Advanced driver assistance systems). The Gas development strategy includes plans to equip vehicles with such systems in order to reduce the risk of accidents occurring because of the person.



In this regard, in the framework of the program "Robotics" an important task of the Gorky automobile plant supports the training of personnel with competence in development, adaptation and practical application of ADAS functions: warning about exit lanes, automatic emergency braking before a sudden obstacle, intelligent speed limit, warning about the danger of a collision, detection and recognition of road signs, side surveillance – monitoring of blind zones, monitoring fatigue and the state of the driver assistance in traffic and so on.



During the competition, "Robocross" on a specially prepared test site, participants were required to demonstrate the ability of the vehicles themselves, in a fully automated or telemetry modes to perform a set of exercises, guided by information from a global navigation satellite system GLONASS. According to the task for the teams was simulated a real situation in which the unmanned vehicle in Autonomous mode must pass was a route with obstacles, to perform turns and other maneuvers, including using the reverse gear.



The judges of the competition were the engineers of the Gorky automobile plant. All regulations developed with the active participation of the United engineering center and Gas resource center the Robotics program.
In the framework of the "Robocross-2018", the students took part in the educational program "Unmanned transport systems", the corporate University of GAS experts of the joint engineering center of the Gorky automobile plant and other companies spoke on the development of unmanned vehicles.

About the competition, "Robocross":
"Robocross" – competitions of mobile conveying systems and monitoring, using modern space technology. Held in the framework of the program "Robotics: engineering cadres of innovative Russia". Held in Russia since 2010. The first competition was held on lake Seliger (Tver region), where two years in a row won the team Red Eyes Kovrov state technological Academy. In 2012, the winners of Volokolamsk were the students of specialized educational institutions Gas – Nizhny Novgorod automotive technical school. 2013 "Robocross" takes place at the testing ground Gas, where for three consecutive years the victory was won by the team "Aurora" Ryazan state University on the car "GAZelle". 2016 implemented design direction "Robocross – technology".

About the Robotics program:
All-Russian program "Robotics: engineering cadres of innovative Russia" developed and implemented by the Foundation "Volnoe Delo" since 2008 with the support of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation and Agency for strategic initiatives. The goal of the program is the education of new engineers for the Russian industry in the country, since high school. Today in "Robotics" attended by over 60,000 people aged 8 to 25 years from 74 regions of Russia. During its implementation, about 30% of program participants were students of technical universities.
