A leading Chinese automobile company FAW Group Corp. presented a plan for the revival belonging to it premium brand Hongqi (pronounced Hong Tze, and indicates a Red Flag or Red flag), focusing on R & D development and sales of battery electric vehicles, electric cars with hydrogen fuel cells and unmanned technologies. Rhetorical question – is it possible this ambitious goal?

H7 full-size sedan and compact sedan H5, and their total sales remain small. During the first three quarters of this year sales of Hongqi amounted to 19.7 million vehicles, although this growth is 6.7 times (mainly due to the compact H5).

For many years a premium brand Hongqi, together with two massive brands – Besturn and Xiali, FAW actually subsidized, the amount received from SP with such giants in the production of passenger cars as the companies of the Volkswagen Group, Toyota Motor Corp.
