He led the company until his last days
From Italy came the extremely sad news: died, the head of the automobile concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Sergio Marchionne (Sergio Marchionne). One of the most prominent managers in the auto business was 66 years.
Marchionne became CEO of Fiat in 2004. Then the Italian brand has been going through hard times, but just a few years under the leadership of a new President, it became profitable. However, in the automotive industry, Sergio Marchionne went for a slightly different reason: it was one of the initiators of the establishment in 2014 of the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which he then headed. Another arbitrary decision was the separation of the Ferrari brand.
Recently Marchionne pursued a policy of increasing the profitability of the enterprise. With this purpose the FCA is rapidly increasing the number of crossovers in its lineup. Also it was impossible not to notice how Fiat and Chrysler (and their subordinate brands) are actively sharing platforms.
Sergio Marchionne literally until his last days he headed the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: until 21 July, it was announced that the Italian prematurely left his post. Then the media reported that health Marchionne seriously deteriorated after the operation, so he won't be able to get back to work. Have Marchionne is survived by his wife Manuela and two adult sons, Alessio and Tyler.
The FCA Board of Directors has selected an interim President — Mike Manley (Michael Manley). Since 2009 he was head of the Jeep brand, with the 2015 RAM. The last time both brands have demonstrated strong growth.
