In 2003 appeared the first robotized transmission with two clutches. It was a DSG, which is installed on Volkswagen Golf R32. Over the past 15 years the so-called preselective has spread very widely: every year an increasing number of brands using similar units. Now they will go and Mini.

Mini models with petrol engines will come with six - and eight-speed "automatic" on semiskorostnoy "robot". This substitution is caused by the need to meet the new environmental standard WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure). From September 2018, he will be completely replacing the outdated method of calculating average fuel consumption NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), which for many years has been criticized for overly optimistic data.

Traditionally Getrag except the number of gears in the model name indicate the maximum torque of 300 N·m. it is Noteworthy that even with the highest figure for ultimate traction, this robot received a "wet" clutch, which have proven to be better than "dry".

Transmission Getrag 7DCT300 was presented in 2015. She made her debut in the minivan Renault Espace. In General, the German company Getrag behind shoulders solid experience in the production of such a transmission: they are installed on vehicles manufactured by Ford, Honda/Acura, BMW, Volvo, Ferrari, Qoros, Dodge.
