Now the body of domestic SUVs will cease to be "crooked"

UAZ tries periodically to modify their cars and methods of their production. Now at the Ulyanovsk automobile plant put into operation a new system ZEISS, designed to significantly improve the build quality of the machines.

Floor type coordinate measuring machine ZEISS improves the accuracy and speed of measurements of body parts. All measurements are automated. The new equipment will allow to check the geometry of the body model "Patriot", "Pickup" and "Pro". New installation verifies the parameters 400 control points on the body. To do this, use touch sensors to detect any deviations from the mathematical model.

According to representatives of "UAZ", the control covers all areas of the body: the hood, sides, roof, an opening windscreen, interior. The information obtained will allow to eliminate such defects as imperfect gaps, leakage of the body, and make timely adjustments in the production process to achieve required parameters.

"Measuring system from ZEISS allows you to control the geometry of the welded body subassemblies of the body. Detecting deviations in the process of analyzing measurements, we know how to adjust welding tooling before the deviation has led to the emergence of the defect. New measuring machine thereby provides improvement in geometry and reduces the number of modifications ready body," — said the Director for quality, OOO "UAZ" Ruslan Gorevoy.

In a press release, the domestic manufacturer has not specified the exact model of the equipment ZEISS. Apparently, we are talking about co-ordinate measuring machine ZEISS CARMET II. ZEISS Industrial Metrology is a division of the German company Carl Zeiss AG, who gained worldwide fame primarily as a manufacturer of optical instruments, including lenses for cameras. The company's experience in the field of measuring machines is also difficult to overestimate, since the first model was released in 1919.

The equipment ZEISS Industrial Metrology is widely used in engineering, including associated with cars. Among the other Russian enterprises, which use coordinate measuring machines ZEISS, it can be noted Yaroslavl motor plant "Autodiesel".
