Daimler accelerates the program in preparation for the production of electric vehicles sub-brand EQ
Daimler initially planned that until 2025 are expected to release more than 10 new models of electric vehicles, but recent events forced the German automaker to accelerate and shorten the time until 2022.
That did not work "team halophytes", the manufacturer has created a sub-brand called EQ and showed the overall concept last year in Paris. All stylistic decisions of that concept in the near future will form the basis for the design of driven SUVs, sedans and compacts, the release of which is scheduled for 2019. By the way, because of the name EQ is now having problems – Chinese firm Chery has decided to sue Daimler, contesting the use of the name "EQ", as they have already staked out his own electric car production. It is strange to hear such claims from the largest copyright infringer in the automotive sector.
But litigation is litigation, and the Germans are not going to retreat. Shift timing and adjustment plans suggests that the company plans to quickly come off with petrol-diesel needle.
"We want to be at the forefront of a profound transformation of the automotive industry," said Daimler Chairman Manfred Bischoff – "to remain successful, we need to make fundamental changes Daimler".
Another reason for the acceleration is called hard rocked automobile market "diesel scandal" 2016 and the main culprit is the Volkswagen Group. By the way, Daimler is also partly suffered because of this, came under scrutiny from the German Prosecutor's office in the presence of "deceptive software" on diesel models. And the technology of hybrid and electric vehicles will significantly reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
Interestingly, according to statistics, the demand for cars with diesel engines in Europe, the home market for Daimler – down to the 2010 level, representing only 43% of total sales. Considering how ambitious plans for the diesels were the producers of the Germans can understand – "a Holy place is never empty", and if they don't offer an alternative, it will be done for them.
In spite of that, sales of Mercedes-Benz continues to break records, and for the sake of the growth of the firm, it is imperative to hurry with the release of a production electric vehicles.
