Last Wednesday June 5 was held the "unification" meeting of the leadership of the Italian-American FCA and the Franco-Japanese Alliance Renault-Nissan (promotion was supposed to share equally), but it came to nothing, as his veto was made by one of the major shareholders Renaul-Nissan, the French government, which owns a 15 percent stake. So that on 6 June it was publicly announced "an immediate halt" of the process of unification of the two automakers, which could give the world's largest carmaker with an annual production capacity of 15 million vehicles and electric vehicles.
As reasons the complexity of the "political situation in France", which was only tolerant masking categorical opposition to the project of the Japanese part of the Alliance, i.e. Nissan-Mitsubishi, which also owns a 15% stake in Franco-Japanese company. This is easily explained as the result of the transaction, FCA – Renault, on the Board of the future giant Japanese side will get just two seats, and it is not in the interests of the Japanese manufacturer, which also is full of mutual patents and projects with Renault that need to be addressed due to the interest in them (and especially to technologies for electromobility) FCA. According to Paris, these issues need to be addressed before joining the Alliance in such super-large global project with FCA. Even without the Japanese side of the Italian-American-French giant could be among the three leading automakers in the world after the companies of the Volkswagen Group and Toyota Motor.
PS Considering how high have rates in the translation of the global automotive industry for electric drive and development of the Chinese market – the creation of such global swishcontent is becoming a necessity. Against this background, the policy of Nissan with its prosecution of a former head of the Alliance Carlos Ghosn (however, he recently grabbed and the French side, found the "arrears" of €11 million that allegedly flowed through the hands of the Rut in non-profit foundations, etc.). seems both short-sighted and, in contrast, is quite justified – to put at the feet of the Italian-Americans, their achievements in the EV for the next decade and to become a mere branch of the Japanese and Asian markets? The Japanese own ("samurai") pride.
