Consequences for Infiniti

Yet, until the appointment of a replacement, the Infiniti brand will be headed by quality Director at Nissan Motor, Christian Vandenhende. Today Vandenhende already combines a few posts. By the management unit responsible for the quality and customer satisfaction at Nissan, he also directs the management committees in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and the middle East.
Vice-President of the global division of Infiniti, Mike Colleran will remain in his newly created position, responsible for all sales regions and will also perform the duties of the Vice-President is accountable to Vandenhende.

Personnel changes happened when Infiniti was faced with falling sales in the U.S., the largest market for this brand. Global sales of the brand fell last year by 5.2% to 233 445 units In the U.S. sales declined, respectively, by 2.7% to 149 280 cars.
Premium brand Infiniti is also lagging in the race to electrification. So the first electric car from Infiniti is expected only in 2021 and to 2025 for electric cars should account for half its global sales.
His competitors already have a head start. So, BMW expects that by 2025 it will be 25 range of models with electric drive and at least ten of them will be fully electric. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz similar plans to electrify its line of models already by 2022.
